Anhedonia

Anhedonia's production stands for creativity in composition and sound design a surprising maturity. The best way to define the style of Anhedonia is the pick up the influences, which move from Flint Glass and Haujobb to Autechre, Gridlock and Xingu Hill.
In this work, we get a melting pot of dark electronics and decomposed industrial structures leading to an experimental approach. There's an impressive complexity in the writing, which has been refined by remarkable string parts. The way of fusion between bombastic parts at one side and delicate arrangements at the other side is outstanding.
Its debut album "Destructive Force" is considered to be a real coup de force. Anhedonia's only working member Vojtěch Smetana has created such an unique, yet clear and complex clashing styles of music.

The Anhedonia project was found in the end of summertime in 2004. It­s only member Vojtech Smetana comes from Prague He creates the music for some years already, but only recently he decided, that´­s a time to show his production to the world and has started to work on his first album. Till then he learnt how to work with the sound a went through all manners of music styles from downtempo, through hard breakcore, digital hardcore right to a very fine IDM and ambient. His first live act was performed in Prague cinema OKO during the photographic opening of one School of Art. Before the Anhedonia project he was involved in his live powernoise/breakcore project DUSTMAN jointly with a grind vocalist Yarrdesh from the KOMBUCHA band. Several brutal improvised gigs with samplers, dark vocal and diderigdoo effected via distortion were created. He played in Prague clubs, such as Cross, Matrix, Brno¡­s Fleda or on a squat Milada. However there were no tracks released anywhere.After a quite long musical evolution, the integrated sound formation has begun. Dustman puts himself to a hibernation and starts to work on his album. As a first arised Destructive Forces track, in accordance with is named the whole album. Dark ambient sound collages, interwoving with distorted percussion patterns. In the line of this song unwinds also the following production stepwise and it¡­s obvious where the sound will be headed towards. He finds his inspiration in soundtracks, classical music or in the film sounds. Of course in many records of the dark experimental electronic music too. But the paintings are the ultimate source of his inspiration. In a present time he¡­s slightly comming back to his ambient rudiments , collecting digital entire waste, which he¡­s transforming into more or less rhytmic code to understand. This interfers the moods, sometimes dark, sometimes more wistful afterwords.
In June 2006 Vojtech cooperated with vj Shivaki (Optica Nakashi crew) on audiovisual set called True Forces (the tribute to Martin Scorsese), presented at VJ's session Bulva Fabula in Prague's Roxy Club. Unfortunately, True Forces set wasn't archived, there's only opening titles available. Folloving cooperation led in higly counted performance at Dark Live Fest vol. 4 and adumbrated following character of public performances. During 2007 Anhedonia transformed in audiovisual project, with closely interactions between picture and sound. All Anhedonia visuals is performed as a live set, no DVD etc.
